MSI has launched a slower, more affordable version of Nvidia's GTX 680 Lightning. The new GeForce GTX 680 Lightning-L, as the card is called, has surfaced in Japan.
The hardware of the L-model is identical to that of the regular GTX 680 Lightning, but the GPU clock frequencies have been lowered from 1110 MHz with 1176 MHz Boost to respectively 1019 MHz and 1084 MHz. Both Lightning cards have the same 6008 MHz speed for the memory.
Given the fact that the Lightning-L uses the same components as the normal Lightning, it's likely MSI aims to create a little more overclocking headroom for the end user. As of yet, it is unclear whether the Lightning-L will be sold in other parts of the world as well.
