Magnificently renovated Boston duplex is a top sale | Boston Homes ...

A magnificent Back Bay duplex that overlooks the Public Garden is among recent spectacular sales.
Tracy Campion of Campion and Company Real Estate was the listing and selling broker for the 2,614-square-foot home with two-plus bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths at 2 Arlington St. It was sold Oct. 18 for $2.45 million.
The garden- and first-floor condominium is located within a beautiful French Academic-style building, built in 1861.
The building was converted to five condominiums in 1979 and had been updated in 2008.
Last year, it was meticulously renovated, including building a new interior staircase, which created a nice flow.
A dining area with a 12-foot ceiling with a beautiful chandelier lies just inside the front door of this unit, and a wide archway to the left leads into the living room with two huge windows that give views of the Public Garden. In addition to the views, the carved Carrara marble mantelpiece is a striking feature of the room.
Toward the back of the residence is an updated, skylit kitchen with new cabinetry and high-end appliances and marble countertops.
The other room on this floor is a large family room with a fireplace with a marble mantelpiece. The windows draw in lots of natural light; they have a view of a delightful private brick courtyard.
On the garden level are two bedroom suites on either side of a transition room with a huge window that looks out to the garden. Close by is a laundry closet with a stacked washer and dryer.
The smaller bedroom features a new en suite bath tiled with brown marble and a glass-enclosed shower. The master bedroom suite boasts an en suite bath tiled with Crema Marfil marble. This spa-like bath has a deep soaking tub with jets and a glass-enclosed shower and separate closet for the toilet. A huge walk-in closet that has built-out shelves and hanging roods has an interior closet too.
Both bedrooms have access to the garden courtyard, which includes water and electric service. Accent lights set into the bricks and wall lamps allow for entertaining well into he evening. A gate in the courtyard leads to the rental parking spot behind the building.
